In Photos: Prime Minister Inspects the Swimming Pool at the City Club in Luxor

During his visit today to Luxor Governorate, Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly and his entourage toured the Olympic-size swimming pool at the Luxor branch of City Club.

At the start of the tour, Engineer Abdel Muttalib Mamdouh Amara, Governor of Luxor, emphasized the governorate’s commitment to developing athletic skills, discovering new talent, and establishing more sports clubs in accordance with the latest international standards, thereby helping to provide all the resources needed to enable young people to develop their skills and participate in local and international competitions.

Engineer Abdel Muttalib Mamdouh Amara added that the Olympic-size swimming pool serves all residents of Luxor Governorate; its construction was completed in 2016, and it reopened in May 2025 after being closed for nine years.

 

The Prime Minister listened to a briefing from Major General Ali Al-Sharabi, Governor of Luxor, who explained that the swimming pool complex is built on a 5,700-square-meter site in the Al-Awamiya district of Luxor and includes a main swimming pool, a children’s pool, a physical therapy unit, a sports injury treatment unit, cafeterias, a modern meeting room, two event halls, an athletics hall, a health club, and a parking garage.

Regarding the main swimming pool, Major General Ali Al-Sharabi noted that it consists of 10 lanes, is 50 meters long and 25 meters wide, and has a depth ranging from 160 centimeters to 8 meters. It is accompanied by a small children’s pool, an administrative building, a sports medicine unit, a group of restaurants, a multipurpose hall, and an athlete rehabilitation unit.

 

Dr. Mostafa Madbouly toured the swimming pool and gyms, and watched demonstrations by the swimming, martial arts, and gymnastics teams. He praised the athletes’ performance and outstanding skills, wishing them continued success and the best results in various local and international competitions.
