Judge Hazem Badawi, head of the National Elections Authority, announced today the cancellation of elections in 19 constituencies for the 2025 House of Representatives elections in the governorates of the first phase.
Badawi added at a press conference held by the National Election Authority this afternoon to announce the results of the first phase of the 2025 House of Representatives elections that the Authority had identified several irregularities in those districts, including candidates’ failure to provide a copy of the vote tally report and discrepancies in vote counts between subcommittees and general committees.
Bandari emphasized that these violations constitute fundamental flaws that undermine the integrity of the voting and vote-counting processes, noting that the cancellation is in accordance with Article 54 of the Law on the Exercise of Fundamental Rights and the Setting of Election Dates.
He emphasized that “it is the people’s choice that determines who represents them in Parliament.”
